Over the course of Fred Thomann’s career with
the sport of basketball he achieved greatness in every aspect. In
high school he made All-State and propelled himself onward to
playing for Michigan State University where he would put in 4
years on the varsity and receive team MVP honors. His love for the
sport led him to coach both girls and boys basketball.
His coaching records include over 700 career
victories, 21 League Championships, 20 District Championships, 6
Regional Championships, 4 Final Four appearances and 1 State
Championship. Thomann has a combined 49 years of coaching

strategist,” and applied this to all teams he coached. He worked
with athletes in a range of talent levels always pushing them to
succeed and think about how they were playing. He dedicated his
life to the teaching of young people both the game of basketball
and about life. Thomann garnered the respect of all those he
coached with and against and has made an impact on the lives of
all those he worked with.
